Progress Fuels Passion

Just finished my workout for today - 6 reps of 2's and 1's with 5 minutes of walking either end, then some strength training and stretches.  It was fantastic!!

I had my physio session earlier today - it was the greatest confidence building session so far.  My physiotherapist said that my leg was progressing very well - she was quite pleased with how much my calf muscle had loosened up and the Achilles appears to have strengthened.  I did a short session of running on the treadmill while the physiotherapist observed and assessed - she said that my running form was very good - great alignment in my legs and my foot-falls were excellent - very encouraging!

PROGRESS :-)

I have been feeling as though I have been progressing - but to hear it from the physiotherapist was amazing - confirmation of PROGRESS has fueled my PASSION even more - but I have not forgotten PASSION's partner - PATIENCE.

Patience will become increasingly important in the coming weeks as I increase my distance and duration of running - I also need to focus on general overall strength because I have registered for the Ottawa Spartan Sprint which takes place on 16 June 2013.  This event requires more than just the ability to run 5 KM - it requires significant strength - both physical (overall) and mental.  However, I am confident that I can do it - a large part of my confidence comes from the fact that I will be joined by my running partner who has been training with me for more than one year.  She is so easy going and has one of the most positive attitudes I have ever seen in a person - having her by my side will fuel my passion for crossing the Spartan finish line!!

Massages tomorrow with Lynn - I'm really looking forward to the relaxing session - a different, yet very important, kind of fuel.

All for now ... Stay well ...

John
